About the Artisans & Production Process:
Upper mountain and coastal partner communities produce handwoven pandanus small mats. These small mats can be rolled and easily transported on horseback or bundled together for transport by boat. Upon arrival to our office, the small mats are cut to size for pillow covers. Through the production of pandanus small mats, women can produce them on an ongoing basis which is less time intensive than larger mats. This also provides an opportunity to beginning and mid-skill weavers to access a market opportunity for their work.
